Physical teleprompter rigs put a partly reflective glass at 45 degrees in front of the lens, so you look straight down the barrel while reading the reflection. A reflection reverses text, so the source has to be reversed first. Turn mirror mode on only if you are using that kind of rig. Reading directly off your screen needs it off.
Get the text as close to the lens as you can. Put the prompter window at the top of the screen, sit further back with larger text, and use an external webcam sat right above the text. The further apart your eyeline and the lens are, the more obviously you are reading.
