When a cloud recorder is the better choice
If your main job is to record something and get a link in front of a colleague within
seconds, a cloud tool such as Loom or Tella will beat this comfortably. Upload, hosting,
a viewer page, view counts, comments, and transcription are the entire point of those
products, and none of that is possible when the file never leaves your computer.
The trade is straightforward. Local recording gives you privacy and a file you own.

Modern browsers can capture your screen and camera directly, and a video encoder compiled to WebAssembly runs inside the page. The page is downloaded to you once, and after that your video is read, composed, and encoded locally. Only the application code travels over the network, never your recording.
Can I verify that nothing is uploaded?
Yes, and you should. Open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and record something. You will see the page and the encoder load, and no request carrying your video. You can also disconnect from the network after the page loads and record anyway.
Do you require an account?
No. There is no signup for the free tier. Premium is unlocked with a license key rather than an account, so we still do not hold your recordings.
Is this suitable for confidential or regulated material?
The recording never leaves your device, which removes the third party processor from the picture entirely.
